Monday, December 4th

Launch of Art Week 2023: Underwater Conversation
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Venue: Miami Beach Regional Library, 227 22nd Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139
Event Description: Join Miami-Dade County’s Artist-in-Residence Xavier Cortada for an “Underwater Conversation” to kick off Art Week 2023 with a climate twist. The panel discussion will feature:

  • Xavier Cortada, Artist-in-Residence, Miami-Dade County
  • Brian Haus, Professor & Associate Dean for Infrastructure, University of Miami RSMAES
  • Christine Kuan, President & Executive Director, Creative Capital
  • Moderator: Adam Roberti, Executive Director, Cortada Foundation

Activities: At 5pm, attendees will have the opportunity to create their own elevation yard signs. Then, at 6pm, they can listen to a panel and participate in conversations on creative approaches to addressing the climate crisis.

Tuesday, December 5th - Sunday, December 10th

Elevating Miami Beach: Interactive Installation
Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Venue: Miami Beach (Sandy’s Beach – Ocean Drive and 6th Street)
Event Description: Come see Xavier Cortada’s site-specific interactive installation of Elevation Yard Signs on Miami Beach, alongside a tent where the Cortada Foundation will engage participants in creating their own elevation yard signs.

Tuesday, December 5th - Sunday, December 10th

Elevating Downtown: Interactive Installation
Time: Tuesday, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm | Wednesday – Sunday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Venue: Knight Concert Hall, Arsht Center
Event Description: Come see Xavier Cortada’s site-specific interactive installation of Elevation Yard Signs in Downtown at the Arsht Center, alongside a tent where the Cortada Foundation will engage participants in creating their own elevation yard signs.

Close of Art Week 2023: Underwater Conversation
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Venue: Moonlighter Fablab, 1661 Pennsylvania Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139
Event Description: Join us in celebrating a historic week of climate action with Artist Xavier Cortada and be part of the conversation to protect South Florida. This event will include a solutions-oriented panel discussion featuring:

  • Kylee Crook, Director of Education, Bass Museum
  • Katie Mach, Associate Professor, University of Miami RSMAES
