Art, culture & Media

“I developed The Underwater to make the invisible visible – to help my neighbors better understand their vulnerability to rising seas through a visualization of their properties’ elevations above sea level. The important part isn’t creating the Underwater Marker; the important part is having citizens proactively decide that they’re going to take their marker and put it in their front yard.

It’s an art project, but the art-making is the community-making. Through this artistic process we have the ability to break down barriers and preconceived notions, work across disciplines and institutions, and tap into our creativity to, not only imagine, but bring about a more equitable future.”
