Elevating Miami Beach

Venue: Miami Beach (Sandy’s Beach – Ocean Drive and 6th Street)
Situated alongside Xavier Cortada’s site-specific interactive installation of Elevation Yard Signs on Miami Beach, the Cortada Foundation team engaged hundreds of participants in learning about sea level rise, creating their own elevation yard signs, and having discussions about how we can work together to protect Miami.

Elevating Downtown

Venue: Knight Concert Hall, Arsht Center

Elevating Museums

The Cortada Foundation team joined the Miami Friendors Museum Community Market at Frost Science Museum and Perez Art Museum to engage museum visitors in “The Underwater.”

The Cortada Foundation team spent this afternoon engaging children and their parents in “The Underwater,” during Family Day at The Bass Museum of Art. As part of the museum’s programming, families enjoyed a creative day learning about how to protect help Miami Beach.
Elevating Seniors

Miami Beach seniors showcased their creativity by creating an installation of yard signs depicting the elevation of their homes above sea level. This event was designed to raise climate awareness during Miami Beach Art Week.
Elevating Art & Business
Date: Tuesday, November 28th, 2023

Venue: Intercontinental at Doral Miami, Doral, FL
The Doral Contemporary Art Museum and the Business Forum presented a Miami Art Week Kick-Off Panel Discussion: The Art of Business & the Business of Art, where attendees had the opportunity to participate in “The Underwater.” Using an app, they discovered how many feet above sea level their homes or businesses stood. They then used art to allow their neighbors to understand South Florida’s vulnerability to rising seas.
